Matagorda, Texas

Blazer Building and Strata Roofing & Construction hosted three Wounded War Heroes for a four day offshore fishing trip in Matagorda, TX. The veterans arrived Thursday and were welcomed by Eric Udick with Blazer Building and Bryan Meyer with Strata Roofing & Construction. Thursday was the rest and prepare day for two full days of offshore fishing.
Friday morning the veterans woke up at 430 and were served breakfast and coffee while preparing for the first day offshore. We all loaded up on Bryan’s beautiful 36’ Yellowfin offshore boat and went to get bait, ice, and tackle for the day. We headed offshore and made it to the fishing area around 9am. It turned out to be a great day even while some storms were popping up offshore. Throughout the day the veterans caught a limit of Red Snapper, some bonita behind a couple shrimp boats, and two 250-300 lbs sharks. It was a great day and everyone was exhausted. That night the veterans were treated to dinner at the Waterfront Restaurant at the Matagorda Harbor. Then, the veterans left to get some much needed rest for the next offshore adventure.
Saturday morning the veterans woke up around 5 am and had breakfast and coffee. The veterans were loaded up on the boat and ready to go by 550 am. The trip offshore was a bit rougher. We made it to the fishing grounds by 930am. Throughout the day, we caught our limit of snapper again and trolled for sportfish. The trolling lead to a 4’ barracuda. We left the fishing grounds around 4pm.
The veterans left at their leisure on Sunday morning with full coolers, great memories, new friends, and possibly some soreness from hauling all the fish in!
Blazer Building and Strata Roofing & Construction are thankful to have for the veterans, their sacrifices, and to have been able to support these veterans by getting them back in the outdoors – and we are thankful to Blazer Building and Strata Roofing & Construction for providing the opportunity to our Wounded War Heroes!
We look forward to the Matagorda Fishing Trip in 2023!
