Cypremort Point, Louisiana
August 12, 2022
The Cypremort Point Fishing Event is a 20 veteran fishing rodeo held each year in the coastal community by the same name. The event is always fun!
The veterans arrive on Friday afternoon and are escorted to their accommodations to get settled in. Afterwards, they head back to camp headquarters to meet the many volunteers that make this event possible. Dinner is served throughout the evening. They will met with their captains. Each veteran will be given a fishing bag full of gifts!
Early Saturday morning everyone goes fishing, and has a great time connecting with fellow veterans and making new friends!
In the evening everyone gathers back at Mark Patout’s camp for more delicious food. The fishing awards are given. Speedy’s Captain Award is given to the outstanding captain of the rodeo in memory of Emmanuel “Speedy” St Upery who served as a captain for this event from its beginning. Veteran’s names are pulled one by one so they can chose a door prize.
Like many of the activities that the veterans of Wounded War Heroes have the opportunity to attend, the Cypremort Point Fishing Event wouldn’t happen if it weren’t for the hard work and generosity of many sponsors and volunteers. Dave Defelice brings together one of the best event teams when it comes to planning an event for our veterans.
