On July 13th, 2024, the 8th Annual Veteran’s Open, hosted by Westside Bassmaster’s and Optimal Field Services in partnership with the Wounded War Heroes, brought together anglers and supporters at Doiron’s Landing. The event kicked off with a Pre-Registration Banquet on July 11th at the Plaquemine Water Front, where attendees enjoyed food, auctions, and raffles, all in support of the Wounded War Heroes.

The tournament saw veterans and non-veterans alike compete, with veterans fishing for free. With a guaranteed $10,000 first-place prize and $1,000 for the biggest bass, the stakes were high, and the competition fierce. The event’s unique structure ensured that 30% of the entry fees supported the Wounded War Heroes, underscoring the tournament’s mission of supporting wounded veterans.

As the day unfolded, the atmosphere was one of camaraderie and fun, with participants united in their support for those who have served our country. The event concluded with a weigh-in and raffle prize giveaways. The tournament was a testament to the power of community and the enduring gratitude for our nation’s veterans.
