9th Annual Toledo Bend Bass Tournament
A Wounded Ware Heroes fishing tournament was held on April 22nd, 2019
This annual event takes place at the Wildwood Resort in Zwolle, LA. Toledo Bend arguably has some of the best bass fishing in the world.
After the veterans were introduced to their captains Monday evening, a steak dinner was served by the Toledo Bend Oilman's Classic Board of Directors. Special thanks to Chester and Gayle Huval and their team for their hard work in putting together a fabulous meal. Trish and Tracy from Barksdale Federal Credit Union provided boiled crawfish, beautiful cupcakes and gifts for the veterans on Tuesday evening.
Once all of the fishing was done, the third place team of Captain Chuckie Hamrick and Veteran Billy Dobbs turned in a 2 day total of nearly 31 and a half pounds. Finishing in second place with 32.62 pounds after 2 days were Captain Jimmy Jeansonne and Veteran Chad Chapman. The 1st place trophies went to Captain Emeric Watson and Veteran Mark Rosteet with a 2 day total of 35.32 pounds.
With only one miscellaneous fish caught during the tournament, Michael Gary and his 2.24 pound catfish walked away with the cash in the Trash Fish Pot. It was Jared Hodges who managed to catch the biggest bass of the tournament which weighed in at 7.08 pounds.
The 21 combat injured veterans that got the opportunity to participate in this little tournament certainly seemed to enjoy every moment.
