Honor Flight 2019

One Day Flight to the Washington Memorial

Posted: October 05, 2019

An honor flight took place out of New Orleans, La on October 5th, 2019.  This exciting one day trip escorted one of our W.W.H. Veterans to the Washington Memorial site located in Central Washington, D.C. The flight began its decent into the skies very early in the morning and returned late that same night. One of our board members, Steve Caldwell embarked on this journey with a dear friend of his W.W.H. Veteran Mr. Claude Todaro. Mr. Todaro is 94 years old and still runs his own barbershop in Kenner, La. When the discussion about an Honor flight came up at one of our W.W.H. meetings Steve knew exactly who he wanted to invite. Steve accompanied Mr. Todaro as his guardian on this one day flight to D.C.  They were able to visit a couple of different places as seen in the pictures documented below. When they returned to New Orleans late that night, the concourse was set up with lines of 100 plus people to honor them. There was music, cheerleaders, and veterans that saluted them to give them the honor they deserved.  A perfect end to an exciting day!
